The Asociación Padel Argentino (‘APA’) and Premier Padel, the official global padel tour governed by the International Padel Federation (‘FIP’) and backed by the Professional Padel Association (‘PPA’) and Qatar Sports Investments (‘QSI’), are proud to announce a multi-year hosting agreement for Argentina, starting with the Argentina Premier Padel P1 taking place on 8th-14th August 2022.

The annual tournament in Argentina is the first to be announced in South America under the Premier Padel tour, and will see padel return to one of the sport’s heartlands in what promises be a special moment for all fans in Argentina.

Premier Padel is the only tour to offer official ranking points to players and P1 tournaments will earn the winners 1000 points, together with record prize money, in keeping with all P1 events. Argentina Premier Padel P1 becomes the first category two tournament to be announced by the new global tour, with a series of other tournament announcements scheduled over the coming weeks.

The deal demonstrates the vision of the APA for the sport of padel in Argentina, together with the commitment of Premier Padel to take the new tour to a range of global venues, governed by FIP and supported by PPA – with all Premier Padel events founded on professionalism and a premium experience for players and fans alike.

As announced earlier this year, Premier Padel will host ten (10) new tournaments in 2022 and 2023 – including four category one “Major” events – the first of which concluded this past weekend with Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno winning the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022. Also announced over the weekend was the Paris Premier Padel Major, which will take place at the historic Stade Roland- Garros from 11th-17th July 2022.

Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation, said: “We are delighted to bring a Premier Padel P1 tournament to Argentina. We know the passion, love and support this sport has received in the country over many decades, so it fills me with great joy that Argentina will host a premium tournament with the world’s leading players taking part on an annual basis. I would also like to extend my thanks to Asociación Padel Argentino – the only official association for padel in Argentina recognized by FIP – for their partnership to bring the Argentina Premier Padel P1 tournament to life. We can’t wait to bring Premier Padel to Argentina in August.”

Santiago Brito, President of the Asociación Padel Argentino, said: “As the official association of padel in Argentina recognized by the International Padel Federation, we are delighted to bring the most premium and professional padel tour – Premier Padel – to Argentina. The Argentina Premier Padel P1 this August will be a huge festival and celebration of our beloved sport – bringing the best players in the world to Argentina and providing the best-ever fan experience. We are very proud to partner with Premier Padel, FIP and the PPA in this historic deal for padel in Argentina.”

The Board of Directors of the Professional Padel Association (PPA) said: “This deal starts an amazing new chapter for padel in Argentina. PPA is building a fantastic future for padel under the new Premier Padel tour, with the players at the heart of everything. The PPA thanks the Asociación Padel Argentino for hosting the Argentina Premier Padel P1 – which will be a spectacular event for our players, and for padel fans all across Argentina and the wider region.”

Argentina Premier Padel P1 will be broadcast around the world on the likes of ESPN (South America, Central America, Mexico and Caribbean), Sky Sports (Italy, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland), beIN SPORTS (MENA, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, France, Turkey), Viaplay (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the Netherlands), Charlton TV (Israel) and many more.
