The European Qualification for the XVI World Padel Championship has been awarded to the LTA, governing body for Padel in Britain and will be hosted at the newly founded indoor venue We Are Padel Derby. The allocation is following the vision of FIP to further develop the sport in key markets.

This challenging qualification will be the biggest competition by National Teams ever hosted. The seventeen male teams and thirteen female teams will compete to obtain a place in Doha a few weeks later, in the final stages of the XVI World Championships

Europe has three guaranteed spots in the Men’s category and two in the Women’s, and from September 30th to October 2nd we will see all these nations competing in the largest venue in Great Britain.

The host venue has been chosen for its high-quality facility in the city of Derby. We Are Padel Derby has 11 panoramic courts, and it boasts a spectacular Central Court with grandstands.

The FIP along with the LTA will assure the success of the qualification and show the world that this historical country-Member supported by We Are Padel Derby has the experience and the resources to aim for the biggest and most important Padel events.

Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation appointed: “This championship is the example of what Padel is nowadays, each World Championship breaks the record of participants, and the qualifications are more and more important each edition. To be in Britain with such an event will help to boost our beloved sport through the Island and it will prepare our member for bigger challenges”.

Speaking with Rosco Muller, Country manager of WE ARE PADEL in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be the host of this amazing event. My team is already preparing to make sure everything is ready in September. As We Are Padel is on boarding in the UK with our beautiful sport, it’s events like these that will create the perfect awareness for Padel. Together with the FIP, LTA & LEDAP we will make sure to be the best host possible””.

Tom Murray, LTA’s Head of Padel stated: “It’s an exciting time for Padel in Britain and the timing of this event couldn’t be better. We are very happy to be showcasing the new We Are Padel Derby venue, now the largest indoor venue in the country, and to be working with their team and the FIP for the delivery of the event. We expect the event to generate awareness for Padel and we will look to capitalize and build from this moving forward”

Bebe Auguste, LEDAP Chief Padel Officer also mentioned: “We are very pleased to host this important event in our brand new Padel center in Derby and are excited about bringing Padel players from all over Europe together in partnership with FIP and LTA”
