The Monaco Padel Federation was born in spirit in 1996 when the first Padel tournament took place on the Port of Monaco between France and Spain, in a contest presided over by Prince Albert II of Monaco. The Federation was formally created in 2014 to federate the two existing Associations “Padel Monaco (2011)” and “Padel Rackets Monaco (2012)”. Although well-known for being the home to two WPT Masters events, organised by a local company in 2015 & 2016, Monaco and the Federation have since put in place various events promoting the sport to the local population, training sessions for aspiring players, as well as an entry to the Wold Cup qualifiers in 2016.
Monaco is home to many celebrities, many of whom are starting to play and enjoy Padel as both a fun and competitive sport, and the Prince himself is an avid player. However, the size of the Principality (only 2 sq km) and the exorbitant cost of real estate means that much creativity is needed in finding suitable venues for Padel on home soil.
