Day 2. Diestro-Esbri, debut feat for new pair

Between the pairs formed for Premier Padel Asunción P2, there is also the one formed by José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri. The two Spanish players, respectively number 37 and number 31 in the FIP rankings, completed the feat on the day 2 of the ongoing tournament at the Ueno SND Arena, beating Javi Garrido and Tino Libaak with a score of 3-6 7-5 6-3 in one hour and 55′. For Garrido and Libaak, however, this is the second consecutive first-round defeat, following the one in Brussels. If home idol Facundo Dehnike came out to applause despite losing to Fede Mouriño and Pincho Fernandez, the return to the court of Franco Stupaczuk, who had not played since the P1 in Santiago and paired with Juan Lebron overcame Munoz/Gutierrez 6-0 6-2, was a winner. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia also did well, 6-3 6-2 to the Portuguese brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus.In the round of 16 today (schedule will start at 10 a.m. local, 3 p.m. CET), there will be a match against Enrique Goenaga and Luis Hernandez.

WOMEN In Asunción it was also the day of the first matches in the women’s draw. There were two marathons, which saw Carolina Orsi and Nuria Rodriguez (6-2 6-7 6-2) win over qualifiers Montes/Arellano and Martina Calvo and Aranzazu Osoro (6-4 6-7 6-2) over another pair from the qualifiers, that formed by Sofia Saiz and Marina Lobo. In the round of 16, the 8 seeds will enter the court: Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez will face Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias, while Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay will find Alix Collombon and Araceli Martinez on their way.
