Day 3. Jofre and Arroyo are the pair of the day. Today is quarter-final day
May 30, 2025
If the day 1 of the Premier Padel Buenos Aires P1 was one of marathons, with nine matches ending in the third set, only one of the 16 round of 16 matches – counting those in the men’s and women’s draws – went to the decisive set. And it was the match that maked the surprise of the day: the victory of Inigo Jofre and Alex Arroyo (seeded number 14) over Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto (4). A battle lasting two hours and 52 minutes that takes Jofre and Arroyo to the quarter-finals at Parque Roca, where Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini await them. The other top seeds are all in place: Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (1) will face Edu Alonso and Jairo Bautista (8) in a top half that also features the match between Momo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz (5) and the pair formed by Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk (3). In the bottom half, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) conceded only three games (6-2 6-1) to José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri: in the quarter-finals, starting at 9 a.m. local time (2 p.m. CET), “Chingalan” will face Juan Tello and Martin Di Nenno (6) in the last match of the morning session.
WOMEN In the women’s draw, two unseeded pairs have reached the quarter-finals: Martina Calvo and Aranzazu Osoro, after eliminating Ortega/Alonso, confirmed their place with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Fassio/Nogueira and will now face Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero (4), while Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga dominated (6-1, 6-1) against Maria Virginia Riera and Raquel Eugenio and will face Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez (3). Josemaria/Sanchez (1)-Sainz/Llaguno (6) and Icardo/Jensen (8)-Brea/Triay (2) are the other matches.
