Benidorm, Patri Martinez chases a new win record

After an exceptional May — with two titles in Antalya and Manila and a final in Romania — the duo Leti Manquillo/Patri Martinez returns this week to the CUPRA FIP Tour at the FIP Bronze in Benidorm (Spain). Martinez will try to surpass the record she matched with her win in the Philippines, where she reached 9 total victories (best result for a woman, tied with Nati Lopez Diaz). Leti and Patri, who enter the tournament with a wild card, top the women’s draw of 26 pairs, ahead of Ana Dominguez/Aida Martinez and Aitana Garcia, who recently won the FIP Bronze Lyttos Crete I (with Claudia Escacena) and is now playing alongside Italian Valentina Tommasi.

In the men’s main draw, the standouts among the 28 pairs are Jaime Munoz and Agustin Gutierrez, who won another FIP Bronze in Kazakhstan earlier in May. Second seeds are Dani Santigosa (gold medallist at the 2023 European Games) and Emilio Chamero. The main draw at Padel Point La Nucia kicks off on Friday, with the second round and quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday; semifinals and finals will take place on Sunday.
