Day 3. Guerrero-Leal, another feat. Coello king in his own home

If less than two weeks ago in Rome, Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal had reached an extraordinary semi-final in the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel, at Plaza Mayor they managed to repeat the feat. Against the same pair they had eliminated in the quarter-finals at the Foro Italico, Guerrero and Leal achieved another great result: Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, seeded number 4 in the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2, said goodbye to a tournament that remains full of stars, starting with the host Arturo Coello, who, together with Agustin Tapia, immediately thrilled the audience in his hometown with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Pol Hernandez and Rama Valenzuela.

The round of 16 could have seen an incredible family derby with his brother Rodrigo, who lost to another wild card pair. Instead, it will be young Samuel Rivas (born in 2008 and ranked 238th in the FIP rankings), paired with Alfonso Sanchez, ranked 644th, who will enjoy a dream day at Plaza Mayor. Guerrero and Leal, on the other hand, will face Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso, who want to enjoy their last tournament together for as long as possible.

WOMEN While the afternoon session, which will begin at 5 p.m., will be dedicated to the round of 16 of the men’s tournament, the morning will see the completion of the women’s draw, with the debut of the top two seeds, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, and Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. Yesterday, Martina Calvo and Aranzazu Osoro confirmed their excellent form by beating the number 4 seeds Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero in a double tie-break. The other feat of the third day of the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2 was that of Ksenia Sharifova and Laia Rodriguez, who defeated Ale Salazar and Veronica Virseda 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.
