Movistar Arena is ready to host Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1 from September 2nd to 7th. Carraro: “We must not forget where we came from”

The Truss Room at the Movistar Arena hosted the official presentation of the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1, which will celebrate its fourth edition from 2nd to 7th September at the same venue. The tournament will once again bring together the best players in the world, led by Marta Ortega and Alejandro Galán, and enjoys the institutional support of the Comunidad de Madrid, along with a range of commercial sponsors. Last year Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia among the men and Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez among the women lifted the trophy.

The presentation featured speeches from key representatives of the main public and sporting institutions involved, including: Alberto Tomé, Director General for Sports of the Comunidad de Madrid, Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation (FIP), Ramón Morcillo, President of the Spanish Padel Federation, José Luis Amoroto Oria, President of the Madrid Padel Federation, Joan Cuscó, President of Octagon Spain, and Marta Ortega world No. 8.

“FIP aims to globalize and internationalize the sport, but we must not forget where we came from – said FIP president Luigi Carraro –. That’s why we are so happy to return to our home: the Comunidad de Madrid and the Movistar Arena. Madrid has done so much for padel, and I’m sure that here we will build something historic something fantastic that’s truly worth having”.

Ramón Morcillo emphasized Madrid’s leadership in the sport: “It’s crucial to host events like this. People often say Spain is the world capital of padel but more specifically, Madrid is. Being here means being in the true capital of padel”.

Alberto Tomé expressed his gratitude to the federations, institutions, and companies supporting the organization of the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1: “Since 2022, we have made a firm commitment to bringing padel to the Comunidad de Madrid and establishing it alongside other top-tier sporting events. This tournament promotes more than just a sport—it reflects a way of life. I’m confident we will see the Movistar Arena filled with talent and the best fans in the world: the people of Madrid”.

José Luis Amoroto Oria highlighted: “Madrid is one of the best cities in the world to host an event like this, and from the Madrid Padel Federation, we’ll always be the first to offer our support”.

Marta Ortega is the local star and one of the tournament’s main attractions: “It feels like home”, said ‘Martita’, who reflected on the challenges of the women’s circuit: “It’s really tough, but it’s great that it’s so competitive, you never know who’s going to win. For us, it’s hard because very talented young players are coming through. But it’s also important to nurture youth development. Even though we’re feeling the pressure, it’s good for us because it helps the sport grow”.

Joan Cuscó underlined the significance of the recently announced extension of the partnership between Premier Padel, FIP, and Octagon Spain through 2032: “This contract extension is the result of many factors: being there from the beginning, doing things as well as we could, but it’s not only our achievement. It’s thanks to the many people who have been part of this journey, which now continues until 2032. This agreement gives us strength and allows us to continue improving. Our commitment is absolute: both Premier Padel and FIP know this”.
