The power of the number 1 seeds. Coello-Tapia and Josemaria-Sanchez on the throne

6-2 6-2. The Premier Padel Buenos Aires P1 finals ended with the same score, and the number 1 seeds showed their strength: while Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia in Argentina had to redeem themselves after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the P2 in Asuncion, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez in Paraguay had been overtaken by Gemma Triay at the top of the FIP ranking. With an extraordinary week, Arturo, Agus, Paula, and Ari recovered what they had lost a few days earlier.

MEN For Coello and Tapia, this is their fourth title of the season, after the P1 in Riyadh, the Major in Doha, and the P2 in Brussels. Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini could do little, defeated in 59 minutes of play. “Our tournament grew match after match – said Coello –. We really needed to feel that adrenaline rush again. Argentina is always special for us”. “Just looking at the crowd from the bench, seeing the stands filled to capacity, was incredible – added Tapia –. We had been waiting a long time for this tournament”.

WOMEN As a year ago in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires also crowned Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who were able to take revenge in the women’s final against Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez for their semi-final defeat in Asuncion. This victory puts the Spanish pair back at the top of the FIP ranking and represents their third title of 2025 after the P1 in Riyadh and the P2 in Brussels. This title is even more important considering the physical conditions that Paula had to deal with throughout the week. “That’s why winning the tournament means even more to us – explained Ari –. Being in Argentina and not playing would have been very sad”. “It’s always incredible to play here, but this week was even more special”, added Josemaria.

The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour now comes back to Europe: next week, the second Major of the season, the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel, will be played at the Foro Italico in Rome.
