July 21, 2025
“Winning my first international title was an amazing feeling, a dream come true,” said an emotional Brittany Dubins after her win in Portugal at the FIP Bronze Aveiro, where she played with Portuguese partner Margarida Fernandes. This is a historic result, as she is the first American – man or woman – to ever win a CUPRA FIP Tour tournament. “I have to thank my partner, who played incredibly all weekend and always believed in our goal. I dedicate this win to my mother, who always supports me,” said Brittany during the awards ceremony.
From the golden beaches of Miami to international padel courts: the story of this 1991-born player shows how padel is growing in the United States. A historic achievement that proves the sport is developing in the U.S. “We are seeing a real boom,” she said in a recent interview with the official FIP website. “Padel clubs are opening everywhere, and people are talking a lot about this sport. I truly believe this is just the beginning of big growth in the U.S. in the coming months.”
Brittany, now ranked number 130 in the world FIP ranking, studied law at the University of Miami before fully focusing on padel. “I want to play full-time in the Premier Padel tour and move up in the rankings. I want to travel and play in as many tournaments as I can. It’s a big goal, but I’ll keep training hard to reach it.”
That’s why she moved from Miami to Madrid, the center of professional padel, where she trains every day with top players. Today, Brittany smiles and enjoys her victory, but she doesn’t forget the sacrifices: “I had to stop for a few months due to a calf injury. Now I’m very happy to compete again and feel good physically. I want to keep improving.” Her talent and hard work are paying off, as shown by her 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win in the final against Spanish players Claudia Escacena and Cayetana Sanchez Vera. In the men’s draw, the Spanish pair Florensa-Sanchez won the final against fellow Spaniards Sanchez Vicente-Morales with a score of 7-6, 6-1.
