Day 2, men. Austria and Greece, what a battle in Group C

Full courts and spectacular action at Padel G24 in Madrid on the day 2 of Phase 1 of the FIP Euro Padel Cup. Thursday, the day of the third tie for groups A to D and the fourth and fifth ties for Group E, will be the day when the five teams that will advance to Phase 2 will be known, joining the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Monaco, Switzerland, Hungary and Croatia.

In Group C, Austria and Greece remain at the top with six wins out of six, as did their respective women’s teams: Austria beat Slovenia 3-0, as did Greece against Montenegro. Lithuania also recorded six wins in two days in Group A (today 3-0 against Moldova, with Ukraine coming back to beat 2-1 Czechia) and Finland in Group D with today’s 3-0 win over Luxembourg, in a group that also saw Romania win by the same score against Andorra.

In Group B, Bulgaria leads the way, beating Estonia 2-1 today (decisive goals from Neykov and Tuparov), the same result with which Georgia came back to beat Turkiye. There were two ties in Group E, the only group with five teams, with Slovakia, San Marino and Cyprus leading with four points, followed by Ireland and Kosovo with three. However, Slovakia and San Marino will play twice on Thursday, while Cyprus has already played three matches. But anything can still happen.
