Day1. First battles in Andalusia. Today it’s Carolina Navarro’s time
July 15, 2025
The Premier Padel Malaga P1 kicked off with the first six matches of the men’s draw. The battle of the first day saw Agustin Torre and Alvaro Cepero defeat Juan Cruz Belluati and Pablo Lijo 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 after having three match points. The engines are revving up at the Palacio de Deportes José M. Martin Carpena, with Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia knowing who their opponents will be in the second round: Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz, who beat Sanchez/Zamora 7-6, 6-4.
There are 18 matches scheduled today on three courts: the women’s draw is also underway, with the debut – thanks to a wild card – of the legendary Carolina Navarro, born in Malaga, who will end her extraordinary career this year and wants to treat herself to one more “dance” on home court. Paired with Melania Merino, Navarro will face Spanish Araceli Martinez and French Alix Collombon in the fifth match on centre court. There is also curiosity surrounding the return to the court of Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda (6), who will begin their tournament against Ana Catarina Nogueira and Martina Fassio.
