Day2. Navarro reaches the round of 16, the Legend refuses to give up

Carolina Navarro wants to enjoy her last tournament of her career to the best in the city where she was born. One of the legends of padel, just a few days after participating as a technical delegate for Sweden at the FIP Euro Padel Cup, picked up her racket again and won one of her battles, 6-4 1-6 6-3 paired with Melania Merino against Araceli Martinez and Alix Collombon. In the round of 16 of the Premier Padel Malaga P1, Navarro and Merino will face Ana Catarina Nogueira and Martina Fassio, who caused the upset of the day with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory over Veronica Virseda and Aranzazu Osoro, the number 6 seeds. Like Carolina Navarro, two other veteran players, Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno, also performed well, conceding only three games (6-1 6-2) to Montes/Arellano. There were also many hard-fought matches in the men’s draw, with Alvaro Montiel and Flavio Abbate winning (3-6 7-6 6-4) in the Italian derby against Marco Cassetta and José Luis Gonzalez.

Tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m. on three courts, there will be 20 matches scheduled, with the debut of the top seeds in the men’s tournament standing out.
