All the top pairs on the entry list advanced, but the number 4 Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero – winners in Bordeaux – had to play three sets before beating Sara Ruiz Soto and Carla Mesa 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Tomorrow at 10 a.m., the quarter-finals will see Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria (1) face Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo (5) and Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (2) take on Salazar/Calvo.
MEN The quarter-finals of the men’s draw are also scheduled for Friday, with Tolito Aguirre and Alex Chozas qualifying in the evening after a great battle versus Deus brothers that will see them face Lucas Bergamini and Paquito Navarro (5). The second match on centre court will be an interesting one, with Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan taking on Franco Stupaczuk and Maxi Arce. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, after their 6-0, 6-2 victory over Garcia Rodrigo/Fernandez, will face Juan Tello and Martin Di Nenno. The last quarter-final will see Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto (3) take on Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger (8).
