July 11, 2025
No sooner had Phase 1 ended than the Padel G24 courts were filled again for Phase 2 of the FIP Euro Padel Cup. The women’s national teams ranked 5th to 12th took to the court for the first time, dreaming of a place in the Final 8.
Seven of the eight ties played ended with a score of 3-0. In Group A, Sweden beat Poland without losing a set and Great Britain beat Austria, with Tordoff and Quirk forced into a third set in the third match by Geretschlager and Durneberger.
In Group B, the Netherlands made an excellent debut (3-0 over Hungary), while Croatia – qualified from Phase 1 – won the second doubles match against Finland thanks to Balog and Jurkovic. However, Vainio and Andersson then scored the decisive point.
In Group C, Germany won three matches against Lithuania (the second of which was a comeback victory by Scholten and Ackermann) and Switzerland won three matches against Norway, again losing one set in the second of the three matches.
Finally, in Group D, Denmark didn’t lose a single set against Estonia and Belgium did the same versus Greece. The second tie is scheduled for tomorrow.
