Day 5. Unmissable semi-finals: the best eight pairs in the world on court

The eight best pairs in the world will compete in the semi-finals of the Premier Padel Cupra Costa Daurada Tarragona P1 at the Palau d’Esports Catalunya. The top four seeds in both the men’s and women’s draws will be in action on what promises to be an unmissable Saturday. The most fought quarter-final saw Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk defeating Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal, who had won the first set before losing 6-7 7-5 6-3. Lebron and Stupaczuk, in the last match of the day, will face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who won 6-2 6-0 to end an unforgettable week for Aimar Goñi and Mario Ortega, who started in the qualifiers and made it to the quarter-finals. The first semi-final, in the top half of the draw, will see Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (who advanced thanks to a 6-3 7-6 win over Martin Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger) take on Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto, who defeated David Gala and Lucas Campagnolo with a double 6-2.

 

WOMEN After the surprises of the last tournament in Malaga, the top four seeds will compete in the semi-finals in Tarragona. At 12 p.m., the match between the number 3 and 2 seeds will start the programme, with Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez, who defeated Claudia Jensen and Ale Alonso 6-2 7-6, taking on Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who defeated Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 55 minutes. The number 1 and 4 seeds will take to the court not before 5 p.m.: Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, after defeating Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo 6-2 6-1 in one hour and 10 minutes, will face Andrea Ustero and Sofia Araujo, who advanced thanks to a 7-5 7-6 victory over Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias.
