August 2, 2025
Almost ten hours of top-level padel, four matches, each one more exciting than the last, to the delight of the crowd at the Palau d’Esports Catalunya and padel fans around the world. However, the first two pairs in the draw, both in the men’s and women’s competitions, will be playing for the Premier Padel Cupra Costa Daurada Tarragona P1 on Sunday from 5 p.m. The final that will open the programme, between Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez and Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, will have an added significance: whichever of Paula and Ari (four-time champions this season) and Delfi and Gemma (who have lifted five trophies in 2025) wins in Tarragona will be the number 1 seeded pair in the P1 in Madrid, which will reopen the season after the summer break. Brea and Triay won the battle of the day, beating Claudia Fernandez and Bea Gonzalez – who were coming off their triumph in Malaga – with a score of 7-6 3-6 7-6 after three hours and nine minutes. In the second semi-final, Sanchez and Josemaria defeated Andrea Ustero and Sofia Araujo 7-6 6-3 in one hour and 22 minutes.
MEN The men’s final will be the 21st chapter in the never-ending battle between the two best pairs in the world: on one side, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, ahead 14-6 in previous matches and 4-1 in 2025, and on the other Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan. However, the FIP ranking number 1s had to fight three sets to get the better of Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto with a score of 6-4 6-7 6-2. After taking the match to the third set, Yanguas and Nieto were unable to keep up with the champions of the last three tournaments (Valladolid, Bordeaux and Malaga). The “Chingalan” pair, on the other hand, won in two sets (7-6 6-3) against Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebron, who came close to winning the second set but were dominated by the second seeds in a tiebreak that ended with a score of 7-1.
