Porto Alegre: Julia Giusti Gomes, what a weekend! U16 title and Bronze semifinal

It was a packed weekend for Julia Giusti Gomes, one of Brazil’s brightest young padel talents. At the FIP Promises Porto Alegre, the 15-year-old from Pelotas claimed the Under 16 title alongside partner Ana Julia Acuna, not dropping a single set throughout the entire tournament. Another impressive performance for the teenager — who turns 16 in September — adding to her run to the semifinals at the FIP Bronze, held in the same city, where she and Tatiana Correa lost to the eventual winners Piltcher/Schuck.

Several other young players also shone over the weekend. Eduardo Orsatto Casagrande Lopes/Murilo Alves Sampa won the boys’ U14 category, while Anita Coelho Tontini and Valentina Wienke Dallagnol stood out in the girls’ draw. There was a surprirse in the boys’ U16, with Argentinians Valentin Cilli and Jeremias Pucheta — seeded No. 8 — taking the title. In the boys’ U18, top seeds Diogo Correa Rodrigues (Brazil) and Joaquin Escalona Linz (Chile) lived up to expectations, while the girls’ U18 saw another surprise, as Argentinians Fiorella Agostina Propato San Martin/Francesca Ana Floriani came out on top.
