Potosí, Torre-Ruiz and Guinart-Iglesias take the title
August 10, 2025
The FIP Gold in Potosí (Mexico) has crowned its two winning pairs. After a very long day that saw both the semi-finals and finals played, Agustin Torre and Alex Ruiz lifted the trophy in the men’s competition, while Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias did the same in the women’s. For the number 1 seeds, this is their second title of the season, after the FIP Silver in Vila Real de Santo Antonio, but Guinart and Iglesias also won the CUPRA FIP Finals 2024: after their semi-final victory over Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros (6-4 6-4), they went on to defeat Noemi Aguilar and Julia Polo (6-4 7-6) in the final.
In the men’s competition, Torre and Ruiz defeated Facundo Lopez and Juani De Pascual 7-6, 6-3 in the semi-final played in the Mexican morning, then completed the job in two sets (6-3, 7-5) against Alonso Rodriguez and Juani Rubini. For Torre, this is his second title of 2025 after the FIP Bronze in Espoo (Finland), while for ‘Captain America’ it’s his first. The FIP Gold summer continues next week with another tournament offering 150 points in the FIP ranking, scheduled to take place in Gran Canaria.
