LONDON, DOHA, MADRID – 6 August 2025 – Premier Padel, the leading official professional padel tour worldwide, today announces the creation of the Premier Padel Steering Committees – two newly established advisory and consultative bodies for the men’s and women’s tours – designed to give a voice to all stakeholders, enhance governance, strengthen collaboration, and drive the next phase of global growth in the professional sport.
The Steering Committees – some of the most inclusive structures in the world of global professional sport – will serve as rigorous and professional forums for formal consultation to strengthen professional padel’s sporting pyramid.
Each Committee will include multiple representation from across the top 150 ranked players, together with tournament organisers, commercial and broadcast partners, officials, the worldwide governing body the International Padel Federation (FIP), and others. Meeting at least twice annually, the Committees will advise on key areas including the international calendar, tournament standards, athlete wellbeing, commercial development, and international fan engagement – creating a unified platform for cross-sector dialogue and long-term strategic alignment.
The 20-member steering committees will include top-level representatives from:
- Players & trainers (5 seats): Active professional players across all ranking tiers (Top 8, 9–25, 26–60, 61–150) – chosen directly by the players themselves – plus a professional trainer representative.
- Tournament representatives (4 seats): Representatives from Premier Padel Majors (2 seats, P1 (1 seat), and P2 (1 seat) tournaments across the global calendar.
- Partners & independent members (4 seats): Commercial and broadcasting partners, officials and independent stakeholders from the sports industry.
- Premier Padel (3 seats) & International Padel Federation (FIP) (3 seats): Senior executives from both Premier Padel and the International Padel Federation.
- Charity Partner (1 seat): To be confirmed.
Each Committee will reserve nearly 25% of its seats for active players, following an inclusive multi‑stakeholder model inspired by the ideal governance practices of leading international sports. A key feature of this structure is that active players will elect their own representatives, ensuring that the athlete voice is directly chosen by and for the players themselves.
The launch of the Steering Committees comes in a landmark year for the sport. In the first six months of 2025 alone, 3,266 players (2,299 men and 967 women) from 91 countries have competed across Premier Padel and the CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments, reflecting the sport’s extraordinary global expansion and the need for a strong, representative governance model to support its growth.
David Sugden, Premier Padel CEO said: “In just a few years, Premier Padel has transformed the professional sport – completely elevating all standards everywhere; expanding the sport to new frontiers worldwide; and bringing in fantastic global partners. The Steering Committees are the next step in that transformation: a professional platform for deeper consultation with players and all stakeholders who contribute to the growth of the tour, ensuring every voice is heard and the tour is held out as a leader in good governance.”
Luigi Carraro, International Padel Federation (FIP) President said: “The International Padel Federation warmly welcomes the creation of the new Premier Padel Steering Committees, which are a significant step forward in advancing professional governance and supporting the Olympic ambitions of the sport. The Committees will give players even stronger voices in the most professional of forums, while also including opinions from all major stakeholders, ensuring the tour is run to the highest professional standards and where everyone contributes to the tour’s continued growth.”
