Chingotto and Galan back to the throne, Brea and Triay remain there

A confirmation for Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, and a return to the throne for Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan. In Düsseldorf, the finals of the CUPRA Germany Premier Padel P2 provided endless excitement: a marathon women’s final lasting three hours and 20 minutes, and a men’s final that saw the number 2 seeds win their fifth title of the season, three months after their last.

WOMEN The match that saw Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay defeat Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez after three hours and 20 minutes was the second longest final in the history of the Premier Padel circuit after the P1 in Madrid in 2023: three of the protagonists were also on court two years ago, when the match lasted three hours and 22 minutes. This time it was Gemma who took part in the marathon, which was won with a score of 6-4 4-6 6-3 at the end of a match of rare intensity, in which the number 1 seeds had taken a break lead in the second set, before Paula and Ari came back, but were still forced to lose their sixth head-to-head match out of seven played in 2025 after having four break points in the third set, which they failed to convert. “Today’s final was beautiful, all four of us played very well – said Triay, who won her 51st career title, her 15th on the Premier Padel circuit –. I’m proud of Delfi and the whole team. Today is a time to celebrate, but tomorrow we will turn our attention to Rotterdam”. “It was very tough – added Brea, who won her eighth title of the season with Gemma –. I’m very happy, especially because after losing the second set, we did well to stay in the match and win this final”.

MEN While the women’s title went to the number 1 seeds, in the men’s competition Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan lifted the trophy again, something they hadn’t done since the Rome Major. In Dusseldorf, it ended 7-6 6-2 for “Chingalan”, their fifth title of the season, at the end of a match in which Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia were ahead by a break (5-4) and serving to win the first set. After a spectacular tiebreak, which ended 9-7 for the number 2 seeds, Chingotto and Galan changed gear, taking a break at the start of the second set and defending their lead to claim what is Galan’s 50th career title, his 16th on the Premier Padel circuit. “We are very happy to have won, congratulations to Arturo and Agustin for pushing us to play at our limit – said Chingotto –. But today is our victory and that of everyone who believes in us”. “Beating them is almost impossible – said Galan –. Arturo and Agustin always push us to improve, and today we are happy to have won. Now we’re going to enjoy the celebration, then tomorrow we’ll get back to focusing on the next tournament”.

The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour now moves to the Netherlands for the P1 in Rotterdam, the second of three consecutive tournaments, with the series concluding from 6 to 12 October with the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1.
