Day1. Velasco-Eugenio stop legends Sainz-Llaguno. An hour of “Chingalan”

Beating two padel legends like Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno is not something that happens every day. In the first round of the CUPRA Germany Premier Padel P2, Jimena Velasco and the young Raquel Eugenio, born in 2008 but already number 33 in the FIP ranking, achieved this feat. A marathon match lasting two hours and 29 minutes ended 3-6 6-3 7-5, representing the first big surprise of the tournament, along with the victory of Noa Canovas (long-time partner of Velasco) and Laia Rodriguez over Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo, semi-finalists last week in the FIP Platinum in Sevilla.

MEN At CASTELLO in Düsseldorf, the first matches of the men’s main draw also took place, with Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan defeating lucky losers Pincho Fernandez and Pablo Garcia Rodrigo in one hour and four minutes: in the round of 16, the number 2 seeds will face Portuguese brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, who defeated 6-2 6-0 Guillem Figuerola and Agustin Reca, son of Gaby – coach of the world champion Argentina – who plays for Germany. The number 4 (Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas) and number 5 seeds (Martin Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger) also won their first round matches, while today it will be the turn of Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who will face José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri in the second match of the afternoon session, starting at 5 p.m. There will be 14 matches scheduled today on the two courts: the CUPRA Germany Premier Padel P2 is getting into full swing.
