September 12, 2025
A year ago, Tamara Icardo came back to the court at Roland Garros after a long injury break, and in the Paris Major she immediately reached the quarterfinals, paired with Claudia Jensen. A year later, and after putting her bad luck behind her, the Spanish player, currently ranked 12th, did even better: paired with Marta Ortega, Icardo defeated Madrid P1 champions Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez 7-6 6-2 to qualify for the semifinal of the Premier Padel Alpine Paris Major. The match lasted two hours and 31 minutes and featured a first set that was a marathon lasting over an hour and a half. On the other side of the net, in the semifinal that will open the programme at 1 p.m. CET on Philippe Chatrier, will be Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who eliminated Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga with a score of 6-2, 6-4. The other semifinal will see the number 1 and 4 pairs face off: Delfi Brea, who is sure to climb to second place in the FIP ranking with this victory, and Gemma Triay defeated Ksenia Sharifova and Virginia Riera 6-1 6-1, as did Andrea Ustero and Sofia Araujo with a 6-1 7-5 victory over Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda.
