Iciar Montes joins FIP to lead the new Amateurs Tour. Carraro: “A number one for a unique project worldwide”

The details of the new Tour dedicated to amateur players worldwide will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Also joining the FIP sports team is Silvia Jover, who will coordinate the World and Continental Championships

To understand how central the FIP Tour dedicated to Amateurs around the world is in the future projects of the International Padel Federation — the details of the Tour will be revealed in the coming weeks — it is enough to look at the name of the person who will be in charge: Iciar Montes. The current coach of Spain’s women’s national team, European and World champions, boasts a playing career at the very top of the sport, matched by her credentials as a world-class coach.

As a player, she was world number one for 12 years, won nine world titles – five in doubles and four with Spain’s national team – and since 2016, when she became head coach of Spain’s women’s national team, she has won five world titles and three European titles, including the 2024 “Double” achieved by her players. Iciar Montes has the rare ability to manage talent both at youth level – it’s no coincidence that her Spanish team is a formidable machine, a perfect mix of emerging young talents and established stars of the global circuit – and among the top names in the FIP Ranking.

“Iciar Montes joins the FIP sports team, bringing her technical expertise, experience, enthusiasm, and passion, all of which will make the colors of a unique project even brighter. This is a project dedicated to over 30 million players around the world, who will finally have a Tour designed for them, the details of which we will reveal in the coming weeks,” said FIP President Luigi Carraro. Montes’ appointment fits into FIP’s new ‘pyramidal’ vision, where grassroots players and professional athletes are all part of a single system – with their respective distinctions – designed to make padel increasingly central and widespread globally, both as a spectacle and as a sport.

Alongside Montes, Silvia Jover also joins the FIP team. With experience ranging from UEFA and FIFA to the recent Paris Olympic Games, she will coordinate the FIP Championships, another key element in the worldwide development of padel.
