Mediolanum Padel Cup Torino, Capra-Goñi triumph. Osoro-Iglesias soar in women’s draw

One of the most experienced players on the circuit paired with one of the season’s rising stars. Lucho Capra and Aimar Goñi claimed the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup in Turin, Italy, defeating the Argentine duo Juan Pablo Dametto and Ignacio Archieri in the final (6-3 6-4).For the young Spanish talent, who reached the quarterfinals of the Tarragona P1 earlier this year, this is his third win on the CUPRA FIP Tour after victories in Cordenons and Isla de La Palma, the second one alongside Capra. The Argentine, meanwhile, celebrates his second success after a long injury that kept him out for six months. “It feels doubly good to win after a tough period and in front of such a fantastic crowd”, said Lucho right after the match. “Aimar and I are building a great partnership”.

The women’s final also delivered great entertainment, with the tournament’s number ones, “Zazu” Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, flying through the draw without dropping a set and conceding just 11 games across four matches. In the final, the Argentine-Spanish duo beat Laura Lujan and Leti Manquillo in a closely contested match. The first set went to a tie-break before Osoro-Iglesias dominated the second 6-1. “It’s always a pleasure to play together. Winning is never guaranteed, and we’re thrilled”, they said after the match.
