For the first time in history, the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour lands in Germany. The CASTELLO in Düsseldorf will host the stars of world padel for the first of three consecutive tournaments (the next ones will be played in Rotterdam and Milano), with all the best players in the world on court to compete for the title.
MEN Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia return to the court after their triumph in the Paris Major: the FIP ranking number 1s are chasing their tenth title of the season, which would take them into double figures again this year after 14 trophies in 2024. For Coello and Tapia, the first round is against José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri. There are no byes in the P2, with Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, seeded number 2, facing a tough pair in the first round, Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonza Alfonso. Completing the podium of seeded players are Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk, who will make their debut against José Jimenez and Facundo Dominguez. Possible quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Guerrero/Leal (8), Gonzalez/Sanz (6)-Lebron/Stupaczuk (3), Yanguas/Nieto (4)-Bergamini/Navarro (7), Di Nenno/Augsburger (5)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
WOMEN There will be 24 pairs at the start of the women’s draw, with the top eight seeds entering the competition in the round of 16. Delfi Brea, paired with Gemma Triay, will play for the first time as number 2 in the FIP ranking: they will make their debut against Lucia Martinez Gomez and Giorgia Marchetti or a qualifier. Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, on the other hand, will play in the round of 16 against one of the new pairs starting their partnership in Dusseldorf, Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, or against a qualifier. The other new pair is the number 8 seed, Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda.
