A marathon every day: on Monday, Nuno and Miguel Deus played for three hours and 17 minutes; today, Carolina Orsi and Martina Fassio played for three hours and 1’. The Allianz Cloud crowd cheered Carolina Orsi and Argentine’s Martina Fassio on to the second round of the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1, after the two players found themselves 3-0 down in the third set before coming back to win 5-7 7-6 7-6. The opening day of the Italian P1 women’s draw was also the day of Raquel Eugenio, one of three players born in 2008 to qualify for the main draw alongside Martina Calvo and Jana Montes. Eugenio, paired with Jimena Velasco, defeated Merino/Nogueira 6-4 7-6. From the P2 in Newgiza, the young Spanish will play with Lucia Sainz, who in the meantime has started her last tournament paired with Patty Llaguno, beating Araceli Martinez and Alix Collombon 6-3 7-5.

 

MEN While waiting for the top seeds, who will be in action tomorrow (Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia in the daytime session against the Deus brothers, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan in the afternoon session from 6 p.m. against Clement Geens and Alejandro Jerez), the first big names were seen in Milan: Momo Gonzalez and Fran Guerrero (7) opened the day with a double 6-3 victory over José Jimenez and Maxi Sanchez Blasco, then in the evening it was the turn of Martin Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger (6), who defeated Emilio Chamero and Enzo Jensen 7-6 6-2, but also one of the idols of the Allianz Cloud, Paquito Navarro, who made his debut with Jon Sanz (5) with a 6-2 7-5 win over Martin Abud and Rafa Mendez. Among the day’s highlights was the performance of the evergreen Miguel Lamperti, who teamed up with Juani De Pascual to defeat Tino Libaak and Jairo Bautista (14) 7-6 6-7 7-6.
