The opening day of the Italian P1 women’s draw was also the day of Raquel Eugenio, one of three players born in 2008 to qualify for the main draw alongside Martina Calvo and Jana Montes. Eugenio, paired with Jimena Velasco, defeated Merino/Nogueira 6-4 7-6. From the P2 in Newgiza, the young Spanish will play with Lucia Sainz, who in the meantime has started her last tournament paired with Patty Llaguno, beating Araceli Martinez and Alix Collombon 6-3 7-5.
