Kazakhstan, Rubio and Martinez shine in Almaty
October 1, 2025
A run of titles that started at the FIP Silver in Palermo in June, continued in Crete in July, then Oeiras in early September, and now in Almaty. Gonzalo Rubio, together with Javi Martinez (winner of the FIP Silver in Lleystad in July), claimed the FIP Silver in Kazakhstan, beating Gustavo Nunes and Jose Solano Marmolejo in the final (6-2 6-3). It’s a really good moment for Rubio in the CUPRA FIP Tour: besides these four trophies in as many months, he also reached two semifinals. “Thanks for this tournament Javi, and thanks to the Kazakh fans for their support and the way they treated us”, Rubio said after the win.
In the women’s draw, it was the top seeds Marta Talavan and Sofia Saiz who took the title with a convincing win in the final (double 6-0) over Carolina Navarro and Monica Gomez. The winning pair, playing their very first tournament together, dropped just 8 games across their four matches.
