Lyon, Day1. Jimenez and Sanchez Blasco pull off the upset of the day

The standout performance on the opening day of the FIP Platinum Lyon came from José Jimenez and Maxi Sanchez Blasco. The Spaniard and the Argentine, in the bottom half of the draw, eliminated the No. 2 seeds Momo Gonzalez and Fran Guerrero with a score of 6-2 4-6 7-6. A victory that propels the players ranked No. 40 and No. 93 in the FIP ranking into the round of 16, where they will face the French qualifiers Adrien Maigret and Olivier Guy de Chamisso. All other seven seeded pairs advanced to the second round: Martin Di Nenno and Javi Leal (1) dropped just five games (6-3 6-2) against Valdes/Gutierrez, while both the No. 3 seeds (Alonso/Tello, 6-4 4-6 7-6 against Cruz Belluati/Montiel) and the No. 4 seeds (Barahona/Garcia, 7-5 7-6 against Abbate/Castaño) had to suffer.
