Lyon: everything ready for the show at the Palais des Sports de Gerland

The Palais des Sports de Gerland is ready to host the FIP Platinum Lyon, the third tournament in the top category of the CUPRA FIP Tour after Puebla and Sevilla, with 300 FIP ranking points up for grabs for the winning pairs. The main draw entry list, which kicks off on Wednesday, is truly exceptional: following the withdrawal of Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán, who were crowned champions at the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1 on Sunday, the top seeds in the 32-pair men’s draw will be Martín Di Nenno (No. 9 in the FIP ranking and semifinalist at the Allianz Cloud alongside Leo Augsburger) and Javi Leal. On the opposite side of the draw are Momo González and Fran Guerrero (who won last year’s edition in Lyon with Jairo Bautista), with Edu Alonso and Juan Tello completing the top three seeds. Javi García and Javier Barahona, coming off a strong week in Milan, will be the No. 4 seeds.

WOMEN Leading the women’s draw will be Tamara Icardo and Marina Guinart, followed on the entry list by Ale Alonso and Lucía Sainz. For the young Spaniard, it’s another opportunity to extend her remarkable connection with the FIP Platinum events, after her two victories in Mexico (in November, together with Sainz, and in March) and the win in Sevilla last september. Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo will be the No. 3 seeds in a tournament full of talent, followed by Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, who will face an all-French duo – Jessica Ginier Barbier and Alix Collombon – in the opening round. Bea Caldera and Lorena Rufo, last year’s champions as a pair, will compete this time with different partners: Caldera with Carmen Goenaga (seeded No. 5) and Rufo with Jessica Castelló (seeded No. 6).

The main draw matches will begin on Wednesday, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
