Veracruz, Day2. Today Round of 16: Alonso-Tello showing great chemistry with the CUPRA FIP Tour!
November 20, 2025
Juan Tello and Edu Alonso have already shown strong chemistry with the CUPRA FIP Tour: in Lyon, a month ago, the Argentine and the Spaniard reached the final (lost to Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri). They will try again in Mexico, aiming to lift the trophy and earn 300 points that could be useful in the Race leading to the Finals in Barcelona. Before the start of the FIP Platinum Skechers in Veracruz, Tello and Alonso would have been two of the three players just outside the top 16 (the other being Tolito Aguirre); for this reason, the Argentine and the Spaniard hope to go as far as possible. After a 6-2 6-2 win in the first round over Jerez/Vilariño, the third-seeded pair will face Franco Dal Bianco and Josete Rico in the round of 16, on a day that will see seven of the eight seeded players in the men’s draw return to the court. The only exception is Álvaro Cepero and Agustín ‘el Loco’ Torre, who defeated Íñigo Jofre and Alex Arroyo (6) 6-4 7-5.
While today’s schedule features the men’s round of 16, the women’s tournament will play the quarterfinals, with all of the top eight seeded pairs in action: Claudia Jensen and Ale Alonso (1) will face Jimena Velasco and Marta Barrera (8), Fassio/Llaguno (7) vs. Caldera/Goenaga (4), Osoro/Iglesias (3) vs. Castelló/Rufo (6), and Sainz/Eugenio (5) vs. Guinart/Virseda (2) are the other quarterfinals.
