Ari and Paula in history: the numbers behind a legendary pair

It will sound strange not to hear Paula-and-Ari or Ari-and-Paula anymore, as if they were one single entity. What will remain are the numbers, the records, those that defined an era. Numbers that could still change, considering that Sanchez and Josemaria have given themselves “The Finals Dance”, in Barcelona, where last year they won the first edition of the Premier Padel Finals. For at least one more week, the counter will stay at 44, the number of titles they have won together, which makes Ari and Paula the most successful pair of all time.

They became that a year and a half ago, when in Finland, in the summer of 2024, they lifted the 33rd trophy of their career as a ‘pareja’, surpassing the Gemelas Atomikas, Majo and Mapi Sanchez Alayeto. But they kept winning, all the way to Kuwait, on the opposite side of the world from Northern Europe, in that FIP World Cup Pairs which remains, chronologically, their most recent victory, yet also the one that will keep them world champions together for another two years, even if they will play with different partners.

Their first victory came in Madrid in 2021, a year in which they also won the Master; their first win in the Premier Padel circuit came in Paris, in September 2023. A total of 44 trophies, divided into 17 Premier Padel (four Majors, eight P1, four P2, and the 2024 Barcelona Finals), 26 WPT titles, and, as mentioned, the FIP World Cup Pairs in Kuwait.

And even though in 2025 Ari and Paula lost the top spot in the FIP ranking to Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, their statistics remain impressive: Sanchez and Josemaria stayed continuously at the top of the International Padel Federation ranking from May 15, 2023, to May 25, 2025, and again from June 2 to 15 and from June 30 to July 6. Out of the 173 matches played in the Premier Padel circuit, they won 146, which corresponds to 84.4%. They have one week to reach 149 and to say goodbye in the same way they have done for years: with a trophy in their hands.
