Chingalán shine on their Tour Finals debut
December 12, 2025
Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto closed the quarter-final stage at the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals facing a familiar challenge. Standing in their way were Momo González — who eliminated them at this same stage last year, then alongside Edu Alonso — and Fran Guerrero, making his debut at the season-ending event. From the very first point, the pair coached by Jorge Martínez made it clear that history would not repeat itself. In one of the most dominant performances of the season, Chingalán delivered a flawless opening set, conceding not a single game. A ruthless 6-0 in just 25 minutes, powered by close to fifteen winners from Galán alone, set a daunting tone.
The momentum carried straight into the second set, with Galán and Chingotto extending their run to seven consecutive games thanks to an early break. This time, however, the Málaga-based duo found a response and managed to break back, briefly slowing the charge. That resistance was short-lived. Galán and Chingotto quickly regained control, breaking once again and this time holding their advantage all the way to the finish to close out a convincing 6-0, 6-4 victory. Galán was the undisputed standout, finishing with 23 winners in a match where some statistics told a misleading story. Despite committing nine more unforced errors than their opponents, the difference lay clearly in attacking output: 31 winners for Chingalán compared to just 13 for Guerrero and González. Speaking after the match, Chingotto did not hide the pair’s ambition as they chase a ninth title of the season — having already collected eight in 2025.
“We want number nine — that’s what we say among ourselves,” he said. “We’re arriving at the end of the season in a better place mentally and physically. This team wants more, wants to keep working and improving. We still have areas to improve, and that’s a great thing because our ceiling is still far away.” Galán, meanwhile, highlighted the strength of their partnership on court: “I think we’re the best teammates for each other out there. We always encourage one another, and that makes everything easier.” A commanding statement from Chingalán, who move into the semi-finals brimming with confidence — and with their sights firmly set on more silverware in Barcelona.
