BARCELONA – 12 December 2025 – The Premier Padel Steering Committees held their second official meeting in Barcelona, taking place during the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals, following the inaugural meeting at Stade Roland-Garros in September 2025. Representatives from Premier Padel, the International Padel Federation (FIP), tournament promoters, male and female players, coaches and partners gathered to review the Tour’s progression in 2025 and discuss key priorities shaping the future of the sport.

Building on the success of an exceptional season, members of the Committees reviewed the Tour’s continued commercial growth, the strengthening of its global broadcast presence and its expanding international influence. The session also highlighted progress across strategic areas including commercial partnerships — with Heineken 0.0 confirmed to join as a new global partner from 2026 — as well as innovation in broadcast and fan engagement, and the ongoing expansion of the player services and operational teams, reflecting Premier Padel’s continued commitment to long-term development.

A dedicated segment of the meeting focused on the 2026 calendar, the scoring system, competition regulations, promoter financial sustainability, and broader strategic objectives for the coming seasons. Exchanges between participants provided valuable insight into how future regulatory decisions can further strengthen competitive structures and foster a sustainable tournament ecosystem, ensuring that promoters, players and partners continue to benefit from the Tour’s global rise.

Reflecting on the discussions, Premier Padel CEO David Sugden highlighted the importance of collective governance in this phase of accelerated growth: “Today shows how far the Tour has come; we are proud to have 20 members and 11 stakeholder groups represented on the Committees, with all members playing a meaningful role in how our sport evolves. These meetings are an important space for dialogue and collaboration, ensuring Premier Padel continues to grow sustainably – both commercially and with regards to player welfare.”

Adding the perspective of the sport’s governing body, FIP President Luigi Carraro added: “Padel is experiencing a historic moment, founded on strong engagement across the sport’s ecosystem. The progress we reviewed today demonstrates extraordinary global development, and the FIP will continue working alongside Premier Padel and all stakeholders to ensure the sport grows in every region while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and competition.”

The meeting also included an update on the planning of 2026 Tour calendar, set to be announced next week, which took into consideration male and female player feedback from the previous meeting of the Steering Committees with regards to phasing of indoor and outdoor tournaments.

On the new stops planned for the Tour, coach representative Carlos Pozzoni, said: “I think it’s incredible. It’s very positive because the fanbase in these regions is much bigger than many people realise, and this will be great for padel and for the sport to keep receiving the recognition it deserves.

From the players’ side, female player representative Lorena Rufo added: “Padel is being played in more places and more often, and fans love having padel week after week. It has definitely been an intense season, but in many ways it reflects what’s needed for the sport to grow.”

The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals continue this week at the iconic Palau Sant Jordi, where the top eight male and female pairs of the season are competing for the final title of 2025.
