Warming up the crowd in Marseille on the opening day of the FIP Platinum taking place in France were wild cards Johan Bergeron and Timeo Fontany, who defeated Adrian Marques and Diego Garcia to qualify for the round of 16, where they will face the number 8 seeds Alex Chozas and Tino Libaak (7-6 6-0 over lucky losers Tur/Reca). Today will see the debut of the top four seeded pairs, with Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal set to face Maxi Sanchez and Xisco Gil.
The women’s draw will also come alive: Italy’s Carlotta Casali and Spain’s Ana Dominguez will be the first opponents of Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso, the top pair in the entry list. The marathon match of the opening day was the one won by Daiara Valenzuela and Raquel Piltcher: the Argentine and the Brazilian, in two hours and 35 minutes, defeated the number 8 seeds Alix Collombon and Jana Montes.
