Perugia, a big celebration for Soto and Garcia

A packed weekend for Vicente “Vixo” Soto and Ian Garcia at the FIP Promises in Perugia, where more than 100 NextGen pairs took to the court across qualifying and main draw. The talented Chilean-Spanish duo claimed the boys’ Under 18 title —they were seeded No. 5— beating Italians Luca Laguzza and Alessandro Pirrotta in the final (6-0 4-6 10-2). Soto and Garcia also played the Under 16 event, reaching the semifinals before losing to Tommaso Rufo and Tommaso Sarti, who went on to win the title with a double 7-5 against Battilani/Ventura. In Under 14, the win went to Giovanni Miriello and Lorenzo Margani, while Spain’s Tello Buitron and France’s Paul Rolandi celebrated in Under 12.

Three women’s draws were also played at the Padel Arena Fastweb: the Under 18 title went to Lucrezia Piernera and g (6-1 6-1 over Ferretti/Biagianti), Under 16 was won by Emma Speziali and Sophie Caruso (6-0 6-1 over Sgattoni/Biagianti), and in Under 14 Miriam Pentrella and Matilde Scarcella shone with a double 6-2 win against Pistritto/Conti.
