Day1. Castaño’s rise continues: 17 years old and a standout talent

Five titles on the CUPRA FIP Tour in 2025 have taken Manu Castaño to number 75 in the FIP ranking and marked a step up that has earned him a place in the main draws of the first Premier Padel tournaments of the season. Born in 2008, he has already reached the round of 16 in Riyadh and opened the Miami P1 with a win: partnering Iñigo Jofre, Castaño defeated Maxi Sanchez and Xisco Gil 6-4 6-4, confirming his talent despite being only 17 years old. At the Miami Beach Convention Center, the action resumed, with local players awarded wild cards by the organization featuring on centre court during the opening day. Both brothers Matias and Aaron Segura, as well as the pair Di Francesco and Agritelley, were in action but were defeated in their respective matches, while today Felipe Osses König and Chris Humphreys will face Guille Collado and Pol Hernández. Lucho Capra and Victor Ruiz claimed the longest match of the day, defeating Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz 6-3 6-7 6-4.

Today the tournament moves into a key phase, with 18 matches scheduled, including the final first-round matches in the men’s draw and the opening matches in the women’s draw, ahead of the debut of the top pairs in the world.
