International Women’s Day, FIP reaffirms commitment to gender equality
March 8, 2026
On International Women’s Day, the International Padel Federation (FIP) reaffirms its commitment to gender equality, promoting a model of sport that ensures equal opportunities, visibility, and financial treatment for male and female athletes.
Padel is among the most gender-balanced sports worldwide: of an estimated 35 million players, nearly 50% are women. This demonstrates the central role of women in the sport’s development and is reflected in the Federation’s policies, which embed principles of equity across its activities and the organisation of international competitions.
PILLARS OF GENDER EQUALITY FIP has developed a clear strategy aligned with International Olympic Committee (IOC) standards and international sports governance principles. Key elements include equal prize money, guaranteed across major international events such as the World Team and Pairs Championships, Premier Padel Tour Majors and Finals, the CUPRA FIP Tour, FIP Beyond, and the Hexagon Cup.
The integrated event format is another core feature: all events host men’s and women’s competitions concurrently, culminating in shared finals days. A single ticket grants access to both finals, providing equal visibility and commercial value for partners and sponsors. Equal media and broadcast exposure reinforces this approach, with television and digital content distributed evenly across official channels and live broadcasts. These measures establish a clear model in which equality is already a fundamental value underpinning the sport’s continued global growth.
