Italy: Biagianti-Acosta, double victory at Frascati

Two titles in the same tournament. Emma Biagianti and Ayme Malen Acosta claimed the Under-18 and Under-16 women’s titles at the FIP Promises Villa Mercede Cup, held in Frascati, defeating the pairs Eleonora Regini–Matilde Di Gregorio (6-1 6-1) and Costanza Vanni–Flavia Maltese (6-3 6-2), respectively. Acosta had previously won the bronze medal with the Argentine national team at the FIP Junior World Cup last October. In the men’s category, Daniel Beneyto Sanchez and Javier Bolumar Orti secured the Under-18 title with a victory over top seeds Alessandro Pirrotta and Alessandro Zaccagnino (6-3 6-0) in the final. In the Under-16 men’s event, the title was won by Lorenzo Sargolini and Christian Ventura, who defeated Alessandro Spano–Leon Oleatti in the final (6-4 6-7 10-8). “It is wonderful to start the season with a major victory – said Sargolini after the win -.There is no time to rest, as this weekend we will compete at the FIP Promises in Turin”.
Turning to the Under-14 women’s draw, victory went to Vittoria Conti and Elisa Protti in a third-set decider against Ludovica Salvi–Benedetta Fappiano (6-3 3-6 10-3). Salvi and Fappiano, however, claimed the Under-12 title by defeating Zara Settimi and Emma Ciccioli 6-1 6-0. In the men’s events, Pasquale Cardamone and Samuele Saviola lifted the Under-14 trophy, securing the title with a final win over Edoardo Anselmi and Alessandro Cullari (2-6 6-2 10-7). Cullari also triumphed in the Under-12 category alongside Giuliano Rubini, defeating Riccardo Baccari and Andrea Maggi (6-2 6-2).
