Mumbai, Rubio-Vilariño aim for victory in India
April 1, 2026
The CUPRA FIP Tour returns to India with the men’s FIP Bronze Mumbai II. Leading the draw are the No. 1 seeds Nacho Vilariño and Gonzalo Rubio: the former arrives at the tournament following victory at the FIP Silver in Parma and a strong result at the Premier Padel P1 in Miami (round of 16), while the latter is seeking his first CUPRA FIP Tour title of the year, having finished as runner-up at the FIP Silver in Caltanissetta last weekend. Their main rivals for the title are Facundo Dominguez and Teo Zapata (2), ranked No. 65 and No. 81 in the FIP Ranking respectively.
After losing in the final in India last January, Thijs Roper returns to the country with a single objective: to win the men’s FIP Bronze in Mumbai. The Dutch player will compete alongside Sweden’s Willy Tiger Slaryd. Also entered are Agustin Reca and Victor Tur Checa (5), as well as Dani Martinez and Diego Arredondo (7). The matches will be played at the Vpadel Arena. This stage of the CUPRA FIP Tour represents a further step in the development of padel in India, one of the emerging countries globally for the growth of the sport.
