Netherlands, García-Jiménez lead the field on their debut together
April 2, 2026
An unprecedented pair will lead the main draw of the FIP Bronze Netherlands: Javi García, ranked 22nd in the FIP Ranking, is set to make his debut alongside CUPRA FIP Finals winner José Jiménez on the courts of Houten, which last month hosted another FIP Bronze event. The top seeds aim to claim the title immediately: García arrives following a quarter-final appearance at the Premier Padel P1 in Miami, while Jiménez seeks his first victory of the season after reaching the semi-finals at the FIP Silver in Joinville and the FIP Gold in Ponta Delgada. Their main rivals are Javi Martínez-Rama Valenzuela (2), while Ignacio Piotto-Mario Ortega (3) and Lucho Capra-Agustín Torre (4) are also in contention. Torre has already secured a CUPRA FIP Tour title in 2026, winning the FIP Bronze in Bahrain. Other seeded pairs include Ferran Insa-Tomas Perino (5) and brothers Pedro and Álvaro Mélendez (6).
In the women’s draw, a pair is chasing a repeat victory: following last month’s triumph in Houten, Mónica Gómez and Claudia Escacena are targeting their second FIP Bronze of the year. The duo comes off a golden March, having won three FIP Bronze events in total, including Houten, Helsingborg, and Viseu. However, the top of the draw is led by Sandra Bellver-Melania Merino, who could face Gómez and Escacena in the quarter-finals, while in the upper half Aida Martínez-Marta Arellano and Rebeca López-Anna Ortiz are advancing. Arellano has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, winning the FIP Bronze tournaments in Kaunas, Alessandria, and Mallorca.
