Paraguay, Nuñez and Valdes chase first CUPRA FIP Tour title of the year
April 24, 2026
Following their participation in the Premier Padel P1 tournaments in Riyadh and Miami, Renzo Nuñez and Javi Valdes will aim to win the FIP Bronze Paraguay I, scheduled to take place in Asunción this weekend. Should the pair, the tournament’s number 1 seeds, win the event, they would secure their first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Alongside them in the upper section of the draw are the Argentinians Santino Contreras and Naim Díaz. In the opposite half of the draw are Franco Dal Bianco and Martin Abud. The former won the FIP Bronze in Ijuí, Brazil, last week, while the latter has been a finalist in three FIP Silver events in 2026: Wadi (Egypt), Joinville (Brazil) and Mumbai (India). Another competitive pair entered in the tournament is Octavio and Mateo Alvarez.
Turning to the women’s draw, Julia Giusti Gomes, born in 2009, arrives in Paraguay with a single objective: to claim the first title of her career on the CUPRA FIP Tour. The Brazilian will compete alongside her compatriot Gabriela Menna Barreto. Giusti Gomes, who has already competed in the FIP World Padel Championships with her national team in 2024, arrives at the tournament following her victory in the women’s Under 18 draw at the FIP Promises event in Ijuí, held last week. In addition to the young player, there are two other players aiming for a maiden success on this circuit: the number 1 seeds Catalina Arancibia and Kimberley Ahumada Carrasco. These two pairs are placed in opposite sides of the main draw and can only meet in a potential final. Also in contention for the title are Fiorella Agostina Propato-Giannina Minieri and Sofia Piaskowy-Laura Afonso Maas.
