The draws. Padel returns under the pyramids: ‘Chingalan’, Paula and Ari defend their titles
April 11, 2026
Padel returns under the pyramids. A new tournament on the Premier Padel circuit also brings a new place in the calendar. From October, the Newgiza P2 moves to April: it will be the fifth event of a season that has already delivered strong competition across the first four tournaments held in Asia (Riyadh), Europe (Gijón) and the Americas (Cancún and Miami). The tour now heads to Egypt, where Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán will defend their title; in the women’s event, it was Paula Josemaría and Ari Sánchez who lifted the trophy in 2025.
MEN There will be 28 pairs in the men’s draw: ‘Chingalan’ lead the entry list and, like the other top three seeded pairs, will enter the competition in the second round. The defending champions will open against Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz or Javi Leal and Pablo Cardona; on the opposite side, the 2024 champions Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas will begin against Iñigo Jofre and David Gala or José Diestro or Maxi Sánchez Blasco. Completing the top four are Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger, with Paquito Navarro (finalist in 2025) and Fran Guerrero seeded fourth. The projected quarter-final match-ups are: Chingotto/Galán (1) vs González/Di Nenno (6), Nieto/Sanz (5) vs Guerrero/Navarro (4), Lebrón/Augsburger (3) vs Alonso/Tello (8), Bergamini/Garrido (7) vs Stupaczuk/Yanguas (2).
WOMEN In the women’s draw, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay lead the field, having won in Gijón and Cancún; Paula Josemaría and Bea González are seeded second, with Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero third, and Claudia Fernández and Sofía Araújo fourth. Collombon/Montes or Arruabarrena/Lobo will be the first opponents for Delfi and Gemma, while Osoro/Iglesias or a qualifying pair will face Bea and Paula. The eight seeded pairs will enter at the round of 16, with the following projected match-ups: Brea/Triay (1), Guinart/Virseda (8), Ortega/Calvo (6) vs Fernández/Araújo (4), Sánchez/Ustero (3) vs Jensen/Icardo (5), Salazar/Alonso (7) vs González/Josemaría (2). A total of 600 FIP ranking points will be awarded, starting from Monday, the opening day of the main draw.
