Leal-Guerrero return to Oeiras: FIP Silver as target, then Albania and Italy Major

Almost one year after their historic semi-final run at the Premier Padel Italy Major in Rome, Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero will look to write another chapter in their career at the FIP Silver in Oeiras, Portugal, where they are the number 1 seeds. The tournament, in which the matches will be played at the ‘Oeiras Padel Academy’ and where the main draw will begin on Friday 22 May and conclude on Sunday 24 May, comes ahead of the inaugural edition of the FIP Platinum Albania and the 2026 Major scheduled to take place in the Italian capital during the first week of June. The pair reunite after winning the FIP Platinum Marseille in February 2026, following a final victory over Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini.

Guerrero, number 12 in the FIP Ranking, spent the first part of the season alongside Paquito Navarro, with a semi-final at the Premier Padel P1 in Riyadh as his best result. Leal (16), meanwhile, reached the final of the FIP Gold Almaty, where he partnered Pablo Lijo. His start to the season was affected by the absence of his regular partner Pablo Cardona due to a knee injury. Guerrero and Leal have known each other for a long time: when they were under the age of ten, they won the Spanish championship in their category. The entry list also includes Diego Garcia and Santi Pineda, winners of the FIP Bronze Seville in April. The men’s wild cards for this event are Diogo Moreira-Martim Solano and Douglas Rutgersson-Diogo Jesus.

The Portuguese women’s draw also features a pair expected to play a leading role at the FIP Platinum Albania: Aranzázu Osoro (19) and Victoria Iglesias (20). The Argentine and the Spanish player arrive in Oeiras having already won the 2026 FIP Gold Almaty and reached the quarter-finals at the Riyadh P1. Osoro also became champion at the CUPRA FIP Finals in Shanghai at the end of 2025 alongside Claudia Jensen. Their main rivals, and the number 2 seeds, are Marta Talavan and Sofia Saiz, who defeated Teresa Navarro and Virginia Riera in the round of 32 at the recent Buenos Aires P1 before being beaten by the Race number ones Paula Josemaria and Bea González. Also worth watching is the Spanish pair formed by Laura Luján, winner of the FIP Bronze Eidsvoll in April, and Araceli Martinez. Another duo aiming to perform well in Portugal is Alix Collombon, winner of the FIP Silver Bari and Caen, alongside Ksenia Sharifova.
