Novela Putria makes history in Yogyakarta: first CUPRA FIP Tour title for Indonesia
May 25, 2026
More than 2,500 padel courts and 600,000 amateur players across the country: a growing passion has now achieved its first historic success on the CUPRA FIP Tour. It was only a matter of time before Indonesia celebrated its first international title on the circuit, and the milestone was reached at the FIP Bronze in Yogyakarta held over the weekend, in front of a large and enthusiastic home crowd at the Wii Social Hub, with one of the country’s most promising players. Novela Putria — already inside the FIP Ranking top 200 and the highest-ranked Indonesian player — wrote history by defeating, alongside Sandra Bellver, Portugal’s Patricia Ribeiro and Carla Serrano (7-5 7-5) in the final. Partnering experienced Spanish player Bellver, who secured her sixth title on the circuit, Novela produced a strong comeback after the pair found themselves 0-3 down in the second set. With composure and focus, the winners recovered to 4-4 and did not allow their opponents any further opportunities.
In the men’s draw, Miguel Melero and Pablo Reina claimed their first title as a pair, having reached the final the previous week at the FIP Bronze in Alessandria. The top seeds defeated second seeds Fran Ramirez and Alejandro Calvo 7-6 6-3 in the final.
