Pérez and Gallardo target back-to-back titles in Thailand
May 13, 2026
After their victory last week at the FIP Bronze in Samui, Thailand, the pair formed by Alba Pérez and Alba Gallardo will aim to win the FIP Bronze in Phangan to secure a second consecutive title in the country. The two players have already achieved another strong result together this year, reaching the final of the FIP Silver in Manila. In addition, Pérez is chasing her third title of 2026 because, alongside the one won with Gallardo, she also claimed the FIP Bronze in Doha with Aimee Gibson at the beginning of February. Among the pairs entered in the tournament is also the duo that Gallardo and Pérez defeated in last Sunday’s final: Camille Sireix and Carmen Azcoitia. The number 2 seeds in Phangan are Chifumi Sato and FIP Bronze Hong Kong II winner Kotomi Ozawa. Also in focus are Novela Putria and Yoshino Kushima.
Dutch player Sten Richters and Spaniard Albert Trillas lead the men’s draw and are targeting their second title of the season on the CUPRA FIP Tour: the former won the FIP Bronze in Melbourne this year with Simone Cremona, while the latter triumphed at the FIP Bronze in Baku at the end of April playing alongside Dani Luna. Their main rivals, and the tournament’s number 2 seeds, are Alejandro Calvo and Mexican player Diego Arredondo, born in 2007. Attention will also be on João Maria Caiano and Antonio Luque. Another pair capable of causing an upset is the duo formed by Miguel González and Lok Hei Jamie Yau.
