Thailand, Pérez and Gallardo claim first title together

Alba Pérez and Alba Gallardo claimed their first title together by winning the FIP Bronze Reap Samui in Thailand. After defeating the winners of the FIP Bronze Hong Kong II in March, Alena Vasileva and Kotomi Ozawa, 6-0 6-1 in the semi-finals, the two champions overcame France’s Camille Sireix and Spain’s Carmen Azcoitia by a double 6-2 scoreline in the title match. The tournament winners maintained a high level throughout the weekend, not conceding a single set to their opponents. Earlier this year, Pérez had already triumphed at the FIP Bronze in Doha, played between the end of January and the beginning of February, alongside Aimee Gibson. “Champions in Thailand! – wrote Pérez after the victory –. I’m very pleased with the level we showed this weekend and to have claimed our first title together”.

After a highly balanced final decided in the third set against Asier Martínez-Héctor Vázquez (6-7 7-5 6-4), Jordi Casanova-Sergio Icardo became champions in Thailand. For Icardo, this was his first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour, while Casanova had triumphed in January at the FIP Silver in Melbourne alongside Miguel Morales. Their opponents in the title match had shown a high level of play in the semi-finals, defeating the tournament’s third seeds, João Maria Caiano-Antonio Luque, 6-3 6-2.
