CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Osaka: Asia’s queens set to compete

Following Chiba in 2024 and Tokyo last year, the CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Japan, this time in Osaka, a city that already hosted two tournaments in 2023. A 32-pair FIP Bronze event will be staged at Padel Dojo, featuring both men’s and women’s draws.

 

Several players who impressed at last week’s FIP Gold in Shanghai will be among the contenders. Leading the women’s draw are Carla Fernandez and Nerea Guerra, semi-finalists in China and now the top seeds in Osaka. Heading the bottom half of the draw are France’s Louise Bahurel, runner-up at the FIP Euro Padel Cup with the French women’s national team, and Spain’s Ivet Val, with whom she reached the final of the FIP Bronze in Prishtina last month. Among the home players, particular attention will be on Japan’s number one Saki Tsukamoto, partnering Kae Tokumoto (3). Both were key members of the Japanese team that won a historic gold medal at the FIP Asia Padel Cup 2025. Asian champion Kotomi Ozawa will also be in action alongside Riko Sawayanagi (4).

 

At the top of the men’s draw are Gustavo Nunes and Anton Sans, who arrive in Osaka after reaching the quarter-finals in Shanghai. Alberto Garcia and Christian Medina Murphy are next on the entry list and will be aiming for their fourth title together on the circuit. The seeded pairs also include Diego Arredondo and Mateo Alvarez, as well as Alex Pozo and Alejandro Guinaldo. The men’s main draw will begin on Thursday, with the women’s competition starting on Friday. The finals are scheduled for Sunday.
