Italy, the NextGen ready to shine on the courts of Rome

Following the success of the FIP Promises event held at the Foro Italico earlier this month, the FIP Promises Tour returns to Rome for another stop on the circuit dedicated to the NextGen of padel. Over the weekend, the Italian capital will host five draws: Boys’ Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18, and Girls’ Under 16.

 

Leading the Boys’ Under 18 draw are Eddi Svensson and Filip Sterner. Their main challengers for the title are Italians Sergio Antonucci and Nicola Lomoro. Also among the leading contenders are the pairs Enrico Landi-Oscar Lupi and Victor Gad-Lucas Orskov Christensen. In the age group immediately below, Christian Ventura-Jacopo Battilani and Alessandro Spano-Lorenzo Di Matteo will contest the title, with Sweden’s Malthe Lindh-Filip Dahlqvist ready to join the battle for tournament victory. Among the pairs competing for the title in the corresponding girls’ category are Federica Dezii-Eleonora Regini and Beatrice Gori-Maria Trillo Costas.

 

In June, Rome has been at the centre of the global padel scene. Alongside the FIP Promises Tour event held earlier this month, the prestigious BNL Italy Major Premier Padel also took place, with Arturo Coello-Agustin Tapia (men’s) and Gemma Triay-Delfi Brea (women’s) claiming the titles. This week, another CUPRA FIP Tour event will also be played in Italy: the FIP Bronze Cordenons.
