Lacamoire and Lopez triumph in Shanghai. Canovas-Rodriguez crowned queens: “We are happy to have won in China”

Amid the grandeur of the skyscrapers and the beauty of Chinese culture, one pair shone brighter than all the others in the men’s draw: Julian Lacamoire and Facundo Lopez claimed the title at the FIP Gold in Shanghai. The two champions secured victory by defeating the tournament’s number 1 seeds, Denis Perino and Arnau Ayats, in the final in straight sets, 6-2 6-4. In the semi-finals, the winners had overcome Miguel Melero and Nico Zurita with a double 7-6 scoreline, while in the quarter-finals they had eliminated the number 2 seeds, Tonet Sans and Gustavo Nunes, 6-3 6-1. The two Argentinians claimed the trophy in dominantly, without dropping a single set throughout the tournament. For Lacamoire, the title holds special significance as it is his first of the 2026 CUPRA FIP Tour season, while Lopez had already triumphed at the FIP Bronze Chile II in April. “We are very happy to have won this tournament. Congratulations to our opponents, they are great people and great players” said Lacamoire after the triumph. “I am very happy”.

WOMEN The tournament’s number 1 seeds, Noa Canovas and Laia Rodriguez, achieved their objective: they became champions in Shanghai. The queens of China lifted the trophy by defeating the tournament’s number 2 seeds, Marta Borrero and Giorgia Marchetti, in the title match after a closely contested encounter that ended 7-6 7-5. In the semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively, the Canovas-Rodriguez pair had overcome Julia Polo and Marina Lobo (6-7 6-1 6-4) and Eugenia Gimet and Ekaterina Nikitina (6-1 6-1). The set lost against Lobo and Polo was the only one conceded by the champions throughout the tournament. For Canovas and Rodriguez, the Shanghai title was their third together of the season, following victories at the FIP Bronze in Latina, Italy, at the end of May and at the FIP Silver in Espoo, Finland, in early March. Last week, they reached the round of 16 at the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel. “It was our first time in Shanghai. We are happy to have won here” said Canovas after the victory.
